Early Music Inspirations

Nowadays, I am feeling much moved in spirit to study early music, learning songs in old European languages, such as Occitan or langue d’oc, Latin, and old northern French. When appropriating medieval songs into my own repertoire, I recognize the importance of retaining their essence, while reconstructing them according to my own artistic style. I am thus striving for vocal delivery in a manner befitting the dignity of the subject matter and the style in the songs, like “A chantar” by Comtessa Beatriz de Dia  (1140–flourished ca. 1175 in Provence), a Medieval Crusade song “Chanterai por mon corage,” la chanson de toile “En un vergier,” “Je Muir, Je Muir d’amourete” by Adam de la Halle (1245-1288), a Trecento madrigal “Quando I oselli canta,” “Ave Generosa” by Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179), and many more.
